Karwa chauth is the festival of the married women.Krishna Paksh of Kartika is called Karva Chauth. Married women do this fast for long age and well being of their husbands. They pray to Lord Ganesha to make him please for the well being of their husbands. To break their fast,they have to give Ardhya to moon at night. After hearing the Karwa Chauth Vrat Katha they can break their fast.There are two stories of Karwachauth that are given below.[smartads]
First karwa chauth Story-
There was a poor family of a blind old lady. She had a son and daughter-in-law. Everday she prays to Lord Ganesha used to ask the old lady, demand for, whatever you need. Ganesha said demand after asking your son and daughter-in-law. The old lady ask to them. They said you should demand for wealth. After it she thought about to ask to her neighbors. Neighbours advised her to demand for their lost vision. During night she thought about these advices.Next day,Ganesha came and said,” What do you want lady?The lady said to Lord Ganesha, give me wealth,my lost vision, everlasting auspicious state of wife hood, bless me with grandson and liberation after my end.”
After hearing these words Lord Ganesha said that you are cheated me but I am pleased with you so your demands will be fullfilled. After saying this Lord Ganesha disappeared.

Second karwa chauth Story-
Veerawati was a beautiful princess.She was the one sister of seven brothers.She got married with a king. After marriage she came to her parents home on the occassion of Karwachauth.she had a strict fast of karwachauth on the next day. The queen fainted in the evening as she felt weakness without eating anything. Her brothers saw her condition and decided to break her fast by deceiving her. They showed her the burning light of something behind the hill and made her sure that it is the light of the moon because she can break her fast after seeing the moon.She broke her fast.Soon after the dinner, she received the news that her husband, the king, was dead. Immediately she went for palace. There she met Lord Shiva and Maa Parwati. Parwati ji told her that you broke your fast by seeing false moon.Queen apolozised to her then Maa Parwati Next year, on the day of Karva Chauth, only one needle remained embedded in the body of the unconscious king.said that your husband will be alive but ill..When the queen reached the palace, she found that the king was unconscious and hundreds of niddles inserted in his body.Everyday she removed a niddle.Next year on Karwachauth,only one niddle was remained.Again the queen observed a strict fast and went to market to buy the karva for the karwa chauth puja. In this gap, her maid removed the remaining niddle from the king’s body. After removing the niddle,he got concious and thought that that maid is his queen. And when the real queen came back she treated as maid of the palace but she didn’t loose her patience.At night she completed her karwachauth vrath.One day the king was going to any other kingdom, he asked the real queen if you want something you can asked.
She said, “I want a pair of identical dolls”. The king obliged. As the queen received the dolls, she started singing “Roli ki Goli ho gayi… Goli ki Roli ho gayi”. In this song she told him the whole story. Then king gave her royal status back. It was the queen’s faith so she got her husband back.
