On Sunday, Nov 22 Around 25,000 participants would take part in Vadodara Marathon-2009, in various places of the city, the diversions in traffic are made as follows: heavy vehicles entry on that route would be banned from 6.30am till 10.30am.

The event is planned to commence at 7am& the final race is likely to terminate at around 10.30am.

Vehicles entering & exiting the city from Makarpura can use that substitute route through Pratapnagar Bridge. The vehicles will not be allowed to pass through Lalbaug railway crossing route. Vehicles inflowing from Fertilizer bypass can go by the crossroads: Waghodiya, Ajwa, Dumad & Kapurai.

Even though the roads, where Vadodara marathon route falls, will be closed during the marathon. Nevertheless, emergency ambulances & vehicles will be given priority & will be directed to pass through possible shortcut route to reach their destination.

Organizers told CM Narendra Modi will flag off the major 12 km event wherein 4,568 participants will participate. Veteran athlete, (Flying Sikh) Milkha Singh, will remain there in company with legendary cricketer Kapil Dev. Indian cricket team members — brothers Yusuf & Irfan Pathan – are the event’s brand ambassadors.

Union Minister (sports) Dr M.S. Gill will grace the event with his presence on the prize distribution ceremony & singer Kunal Ganjawala will perform in evening.
