Issue over Sant Singh Chatwal’s name in Padma Shree List

Sant Singh Chatwal, the US-based Indian hotelier is awarded by Padma Shree, & this news is in controversy nowadays.

Deputy Leader of Opposition Gopinath Munde asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that on what basis Chatwal was given the honor of being India’s highest civilian.

Recently, Chatwal undergoes a trial in a suspected $9 million bank scam. For a short time he was even arrested in this case. [smartads]

Chatwal expressed his views & said that he is extremely happy by getting the award.

He further added that US Ambassador Meera Shankar had told him before, about it, but officially he got to know about the news on Monday, & he is very much grateful to Indian government, for electing him.

When he was question on his controversies, then he explained that he is totally unaware of the objections of BJP, & he whole heartily love his country & is working from past thirty years. He concluded by saying that he is very much grateful to the Prime Minister for selecting him for such a big honor.
