Sachin Tendulkar was in complete control right from the starting of the match having 22 boundaries and a six. Pathan smashing 24 runs from 13 balls, made 50 runs in partnership with Tendulkar from 27 balls and India reached at 271 for two in 37 overs.
Opener Virender Sehwag was got out early by Dale Steyn at a wide ball from Wayne Parnell. Dinesh Karthik made 79 from 85 balls, having four boundaries and three sixes and then he was out by Herschelle Gibbs.
Earlier in Gwalior, India hold the same grouping that won the first One Day International and had no pause in electing for batting on a flat wicket.
