SANTIAGO, Chile: As the swearing ceremony of Sebastián Piñera as a President was going on earthquakes shook Chile. Earthquake and light fixture scared people in coastal Valparaiso. But Piñera marched in calmly.
After the swearing ceremony was done almost 2000 people migrated from the coastal area fearing of facing another tsunami. Chile experienced dozen of more shocks that destroyed some towns.
After the destruction the newly formed President Sebastián Piñera calls himself “reconstruction president.’’ The last month’s earthquake with magnitude of 8.8 quakes destroyed Chile and has changed the promise of president also who now advice his citizens to: “Let’s dry our tears and put our hands to work.’’ [smartads]
In a span of six hours 10 earthquakes shook Chile with the strongest of 7.0 magnitudes. In the inland city of Rancagua Chile’s key north-south highway suffered most of the damages hitting two towns Pichilemu and Bucalemu as well .
Piñera plead Chileans to dedicate themselves to “this colossal job of reconstructing our country, of rebuilding better than what we had before, not just to lift up our schools, our hospitals, our homes, but also to make them better, and also to lift up the soul of our country.’’
