It was a day of riots in the streets across the Gaza strip due to Israel reopening a 17th century synagogue in the Old city of Jerusalem near the Al Aqsa Mosque compound. The Palestinians were all in rage as they fired stones at the police force and set different vehicles on fire. The police countered by all their means of defense.

The compound holds prominent significance for both the Muslim and the Jew community and has been the cause of the Palestine-Israel conflict for more than a decade now. This incident comes amidst another significant diplomatic crisis of Israel stating that it would go ahead to build around 1600 fresh homes for the Jews in the region of East Jerusalem.

This announcement angered the Palestinians who think that if these homes get constructed, the lay of their claims on the territory would get lessened. They also moved out of the US mediated talks that was supposed to begin soon.
