Harley Davidson India: Hyderabad Becomes the First to Boast Of Harley-Davidson in India

DLN: Harley Davidson has now come to India. Originally based in USA, this heavyweight bike manufacturer opened its one of its kind dealership showroom in Hyderabad on Friday.

Although the company has plans to reach out to many more cities in India: Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Bangalore to name a few, the outlet in Hyderabad named Banjara Harley-Davidson already started functioning yesterday.

Anoop Prakash, Managing Director, Harley-Davidson India promised that, “We will launch our bikes in other cities before the end of this year,” following the inauguration of the Hyderabad showroom by the famous Telugu Film star N T Ramarao.

Prakash said that the bikes are designed keeping in mind the Indian roads because of their weight and ruggedness. Bringing in light the booming market for bikes in India, he said that 2009 witnessed the sale of at least 700 heavy bikes in India that too leaving aside the ones by Harley-Davidson.

Prakash further said that Harley-Davidson have made enough investments to survive at least twenty years in the country. The brand has come up with 12 variants of the bikes in 883cc to 1800cc range for the biking enthusiasts in India.

The bikes are manufactured in the USA and are shipped for the Indian market. Harley-Davidson had already started the bookings in April this year and the good news is that there is no waiting period for their possession. These bikes are placed anywhere between Rs.7 lakh and Rs.35 lakh.
