Hyderabad: Whole of Andhra Pradesh would be closed on Monday, brought upon them by the Telugu Desam Party, with protests against the arrest of Naidu and other TDP leaders.
N Chandrababu Naidu, Party President of the Telugu Desam Party, and 74 other legislators were held by Maharashtra police. Chradrababu was imprsoned for two days in judicial custody of Dharmabad, Mahrarastra.
Immediately, a meeting was called by the senior leaders of the Telugu Desam Party at its headquarters where they discussed their take on those arrests.
“We appeal to the people to co-operate and make the agitation a success,” Yanamala said.
The 74 TDP leaders who were held back by the Maharashtra Police passed up on to be taken to different cellers.
“We shall all stay together. Take us to only one prison wherever it is,” said the TDP leaders.
“We have been informally told by the police that they will continue our detention in the Dharmabad ITI itself. They seem to be making some arrangements for this, with separate facilities for the women legislators,”
The Babli Bachao Samiti was seen to be trying to force out the media vehicles out of Dharamabad, as told by a media person who was there to cover the TDP issue,
“The Samiti workers are forcibly sending away the broadcasting vehicles parked at Dharmabad to block the coverage of the happenings there,” a journalist said.
Ashok Chavan, CM of Maharashtra, believes that the Bandh is a political propsition planned by the former CM of Andhra Pradesh,.
“There are elections around the corner in Andhra Pradesh which is why this issue has emerged again. Let’s not look at it politically,” Chavan added.
