Independence Day
The kids are in full action for the Independence Day celebrations. The school walls are colored Saffron-white-green and royal blue. The prep classes have themselves busy making and coloring the tricolor flags to wave on the event of Independence Day, which proudly stands tomorrow.
Starting from painting competitions to posters and quotes and poems upon India and patriotism, all the work and enjoyment is in the middle wing quota. The schools are the best place to learn patriotism of any country.
All the school kids are busy doing preparations and assigning little responsibilities to everybody for Independence Day celebrations.
The little ones not only keep themselves occupied, but their whole family involved in the Independence Day celebrations. One of the prep kids said “mom’s responsible for my white costume, dad for my I-Day essay, grandma for cooking a big lunch, sister for the flags and final touch up…”
Indrani Datta Banarjee, a mother to a ten year old, says “Independence Day is nothing short of a carnival for her. That’s surely one day she looks forward to going to school. From attending the flag hoisting ceremony, dressing up like a freedom fighter and delivering a speech, to pocketing sweets, Independence Day holds special fascination for her.”
She believes that to the kids, the celebrations are more pure and the feeling of patriotism is new and strong. Working towards making it even stronger for her daughter is what she strives for. These experiences are one that holds for a lifetime. One would cherish the childhood memories even when one is left without any teeth to chew.
