The FYJC admission list is finally out and not without the quota of technical glitches. The Education Department had on Thursday released the 2nd list for the admission in junior colleges. The general category list was out prematurely at 12:30pm on Thursday. Earlier it was supposed to come out at 5pm.
Students finally heaved a sigh of relief and many were ecstatic to have made it to good colleges. But their hopes were dashed to the ground when the education department released a statement that nullified this FYJC admission list owing to some technical glitches.
The technical glitch announcement in the FYJC admission list was announced at 6:30pm on Thursday evening leaving students disappointed. Even the principals of many colleges were heard berating this type of irrational behaviour from the education department. Sunil Mantri, principal of NM College, Vile Parle, said, “What if some students cancelled their admissions in the previous college after the afternoon list? They stand to lose both the seats if they don’t get a better option in the new list.”
Kavita Rege, principal, Sathaye College, Vile Parle, said, “Even though it was a public holiday, we called most of our staff to check the merit list. We even displayed the list on the notice board. It was a complete waste of our time and resources. I can hardly imagine what the students must be going through,” she said.
As for the students they are distraught seeing their dream colleges slipping away from their hands like this. The new list was scheduled to be released on Friday at 8am. Again acting prematurely the education department released the list at 10pm and this time it contained 6000 more names. The no. of seats remaining same this will decrease the betterment choices by 2000.
The deputy director’s office, said, “It was a minor error. It is important that students know that if there is any difference in allocation between the two lists, the latter should be considered as confirmed allotment.”
About the glitch, the official said, “It was a technical error from the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (which is conducting the online process) side. We ensured all stakeholders are informed. Admissions will stay on schedule,” he said.
Meanwhile the deputy director of education, Mumbai division, Sunil Chavan was not available to give his comments about this farce in the FYJC admission list updates.
