Aashayein the upcoming film of Nagesh Kukunoor also follows the reality basics that many flicks try to portray by connecting their stories to real life incidents coming straight from celluloid’s, newspapers or news channels. Apart from that Nagesh is well recognized for striking a chord with viewers by presenting close to real life stories that are sensitively narrated. With Aashayien, Nagesh is all set to bring up another common man story about a guy who has only few months left to his life after being diagnosed with lung cancer. But a word of caution has it that the story by its end strays away from realism and steps into a more or less fantasy world that breaks the complete intensity the subject has to offer.

John Abraham plays the role of Rahul who is making and winning big in life, As a young man he is looking forward to start his family with his lover but then suddenly things take a turn as he collapses one night and is later diagnosed with lung cancer. In a distraught state Rahul decides to leave everything behind and embarks on a whole new journey to a hospice with a few days remaining in his hand. At this hospice he meets many people who are like and unlike him. During his last days we see Rahul spreading happiness and light all around to people who need it the most.
