Ugadi festival marks the beginning of the new Hindu lunar year

Ugadi is a prominent celebration around Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. This celebration marks the beginning of the new lunar Hindu calendar. While popularly called as Ugadi, this festival is also called Gudipadawa in Maharashtra.

Milad-un-nabi to be celebrated with great zeal and vigour!

Citizens and all the people who follow Islam will be celebrating the festival of Eid-Milad-un –Nabi, this Wednesday.

The long age traditional procession will start off from Lahore Railway Station and would end at Data Darbar. The procession is expected to follow the route, of Australia Chowk, Anarkali, Bansawala Bazaar, Brandth Road, Circular Road, Railway Road, Gawalmandi, Shah Alam Chowk, Mayo Hospital and Data Darbar.

Valentines Day 2011: Love And Let Love

Saint Valentines Day, Commonly celebrated as Valentines Day is an annual festival for depicting love and affection towards each other for those who share intimate relationship. Valentines Day is generally celebrated on fourteenth Feb of every year. It is celebrated in order to commemorate the lives of Christian martyrs, Saint Valentines etc. But so far it was not celebrated as a festival anywhere in the world. Valentines Day got popular in the time of Pope Gelasius I in 500 AD. But after that followers of Roman calendar deleted this day from Roman Calendar of Saints. Mainly Pope Paul VI was the one responsible behind this. Despite all this religious ceremony of this day is still allowed.
