Karva Chauth
There are a total of 24 “Ganesh Chauths” in each of the 12 “Krishna Pakhsas” in a year. The “kartik” month’s “Badi Chauth” is called the “Karva Chauth”. The importance of the name of this day is such that the Sanskrit word “karak” means “karava” the earthen pot used to offer the ‘arghya” of holy water to the deity.
