The Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee will present the annual budget today. This will be his sixth budget.
He thus comes at par with the present Indian Prime Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh who also has presented six budgets.

Declining in the duties of petroleum items dominated the list of demands made by opponent during the conversation on the Finance Bill in the Rajya Sabha today on Tuesday.
Commencing the conversation in the Rajya Sabha, Prakash Javadekar of BJP admired FM Pranab Mukherjee and gave compliment him for the concessions declared but said that he should also consider decrease in rates of petrol and diesel.
“You have accepted so many demands. Accept one more demand and reduce the prices of petrol and diesel,” Prakash Javadekar said.

On Friday the finance minister Pranab Mukherjee revised the tax slab of the budget 2010 to give relief to middle class citizens.
“The plan to cut the income tax slab will be 60% beneficial for all tax payers,” finance minister said and he wants to hike the MAT (min alternate tax) to 18% of book profits from the current 15%.
